Well this is an intereting situation - for the second time, I've planted a shrub that the famed massive nursery here in the Valley mislabeled. First was the orange and yellow coreopsis that is yellow, and now the largest and most spectacular bright pink Chamallow tree mallow that I wanted to duplicate from our last garden? It's fucking white...and I'm pretty sure it's the 'blushing bride' variety that they can't seem to sell there because it's, well, nowhere near as stunning as the amazing pink of the Chamallow.
Now, not to say that this flower is ugly, 'cause it's not, but when you literally plant something this large (it's almost 6' tall now as it LOVES the center space I've got it in in our front garden), you kinda want it to be the color you were aiming for. Along with that, I've read that the 'Blushing Bride' variety may not be as drought tolerant as the Chamallow, which ticks me off since our front garden was literally designed for DT plants. Ugh. Ugh. UGH!
But it's so damn elegant and I can't help but like it even though it's not what I wanted. So we'll see what the pollinators have to say this year, and decide if it stays...yeah, it'll probably stay. Sigh...
