It's been so crazy lately that I'd forgotten to check on our dwarf strawberry tree that I planted this spring. It had bloomed but never fruited, and I was fearing it would not go through it's full life cycle this crazy year where so many things have grown late, succumbed to insect predation (moths have been merciless in our fall veggie patch), or not bloomed at all (like my beloved crape myrtle, the inaugural tree/shrub in this area where its buds dried up without ever opening this fall).
But today I saw a flash of red peek out and was overjoyed! Life persists.
Talk about the inspiration I need this week, y'all.
Such a pretty fruit too. Plus it’s the national flower of Italy!
