Scutellaria, AKA “Barbed Skullcap"


The names (both Latin and common) do not do this pretty purple medicinal justice whatsover. Used in traditional Chinese medicine for everything from hepatitis to cancer, it's getting attention in medical studies as well for its healing properties. As for me? I just wanted something interesting, low-growing and colorful to add along our path that can take a bit of wet feet in winter. Saw it, ooh'd and ahh'd over it, planted two of 'em. Bada-bing.
