So maybe they're not fully in bloom, but the little balls of the Santolina are so darn cute I thought I'd share this with y'all. Also known as - go figure - lavender cotton, these are great drought-tolerant, reliable small shrubs that look fantastic in any sunny spot. In fact, one of our columbines got so big I had to trim it back to let this li'l gal shine! Santolina is said to be very good for rock walls and slopes, and with the wee slope in our backyard near the former carport area, it's been absolutely worth it to plant it on there. And now that it's summer, let the button flowering begin!
