Okay yeah, this is cool. My honey and I were watching a video a few years ago from a Sonoma County gardener, where we were inches away from moving to from the farm - before deciding to go way north instead of way south - and he was growing tons of these beauties. Edible, and thus far reaching over the fence of our front garden with the potential to DOUBLE in height (yep, I've got it staked), the purple tree collard is as weirdly cool as it sounds. Just as good as regular collards but purple, I immediately snagged this when I saw it hiding away in a corner at the local nursery, and crossed my fingers. It stands between two cardoons and, unlike them, hasn't had an ounce of threat from ants or aphids, and just is letting it's purple flag fly high. Pretty groovy.
