Mushroom: Common Bonnet

I love learning about the wild mushrooms in the garden!

While never been particularly interested in learning about edibles vs. non-edibles, but the biodiversity within our own fences is ever-inspiring. In an empty pot where I'd been dumping random scraps from the garden here in fall, today I found these beauties, better known as the Common Bonnet, springing up inside of it.

Not all realize that mushrooms popping up in your garden or on your lawn are a GOOD sign...a sign of health. Don't cut them back. Embrace their arrival!

"Literature is a vast forest and the masterpieces are the lakes, the towering trees or strange trees, the lovely, eloquent flowers, the hidden caves, but a forest is also made up of ordinary trees, patches of grass, puddles, clinging vines, mushrooms, and little wildflowers." ~ Roberto Bolano
