When we moved to the farm, I stripped the kitchen to the studs,took out a wall, and donated the ancient appliances & cabinetry. I built the workbenches & island (Ana White design inspo) from salvaged barn wood, installed open shelving, replaced windows and painted the floors; saving a ton. I had a GC install a much-needed range hood & rewire for pendant task lighting. It was a big house at 2,200 sf, so we had room for a separate pantry.
