The fruit forest is definitely off to a great start! After the Asian pear espalier burst into bloom this past week, our combo European pear tree has gotten the party started. With two kinds of Bartlett, Bosc, Rescue and Flemish Beauty varieties, I’m looking forward to seeing how well it produces. I scored it for only $35 at a nursery south of here at the end of the season, and it happened to already be 3 to 4 years old they said - SO RAD! With that, it’s looking good to fruit this year without having to pinch any blossoms. Considering we left our coastal farm having never tried the 9 pear trees I’d planted because they were still getting their sea legs under themselves, it’s a nice change of pace.
