An experimental variety for me, this new hollyhock variety "Queeny Purple" that's begun to bloom is pretty up close, but the leaf spot on this shorter perennial (which I just learned is biennial and short-lived, sigh...) has been super annoying. The blossoms up close as you can see are pretty darn lovely but I had to practically get upside down to shoot this as it's definitely a shorty plant at 2' tall and the blossoms kind of hide in there. A good experiment, as all gardening is, right?
