Harvesting the Rain: 1,000 Gallons

The first order of business when we moved tot he farm was to get the rainwater collected for the garden. After all, we'd moved to an area with TWICE the rain of Seattle or Portland, so why not take it for free for the garden? I ordered a 1,000 gal cistern and we rolled it over next to the barn, where I'd had a gutter installed just for this purpose. It rocked - not only watering our garden but ensuring our ducks & chooks got their water as well.
