Time to remind ourselves of some good things going on out there with all that can freak us out about the world we live in and destruction to the planet...
Check out how this dude captures 100,000+ gallons of water a year on his property...in Tucson. Why rainwater capture isn't fully subsidized everywhere is beyond me.
Eat sustainably? Live longer. "Eating a planet-healthy diet...cut land use by 51%, greenhouse gas emissions by 29% and fertilizer use by 21%, while also extending the lives of people." Not shocking, but great to see the data getting published on a mainstream media site.
Minnesota's environmental leadership continues to impress me, going after Walmart's greenwashing. Keith Ellison, Minnesota's AG, who also took down scumbag Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd, has now held Walmart liable for greenwashing of their plastic bags that they falsely claimed were recyclable.
Yes, there are slugs that look like rainbows. Who knew there were such amazing colors just below the surface in the form of what we'd ordinarily see as slimy and gnarly...a sea slug.
If you want the world to be greener, let women lead. Check out what women are doing in Ghana with Wahu! electric bikes. Made locally so they fit the roads of Accra and other cities AND so the money stays in the country, they're helping fight pollution while empowering the community both environmentally AND economically.
So with that, let's take these bits of good news and find ways to get inspired, to do more for our planet and our community, and to not take these incremental changes for granted.
