Yes, irises can bloom in July, believe it or not! I thought there was no chance for these Dutch irises that I'd planted at the bottom of the side garden adjacent to our driveway, smooshing the bulbs into the muddy clay and wishing them luck, but here we are in the first week of July and they are just beginning to bloom! Yellow, white and purple are the predominant color for this type of iris that originally came to popularity in Spain and Portugal, and while the ones in our backyard still look like sad leaves of grass, with about half of them dying, these ones have decided to embrace the space!
