Creeping Hummingbird Trumpet: “Orange Carpet”

When we moved in, I had NO idea what I was going to do with the rockery that lines the front border of our property on the street. It was seriously overgrown, and flooded with the obnoxiousness of St John's Wort that a neighbor had planted many years prior, and it'd spread to our property with reckless abandon, as invasives do. But one thing I learned? You can fight fire with fire, and if you plant something pretty badass, the St John's Wort will follow the past of least resistance...and grow elsewhere.

So I found this gorgeous plant at one of the local nurseries last spring, and it has exploded with beautiful orange this year and doubled in size, making me very, very happy, and wishing I'd bought many, many more!

Note: While the websites say it appreciates morning sun and afternoon shade, we haven't seen that. Ours is in exactly the opposite situation...and is going crazy with flowers! It's been a perfect addition to our rockery!
