Giant leaves are cool.
When I decided to buy this acanthus, also known as Bear's Breeches, I put it in a pot because of it's infamous nature of literally never being movable once planted, and potential to spread.
It failed miserably, not growing even an inch in the big pot I put it in, so I decided it'd go into what I gently refer to as 'survival of the fittest mode' - basically, planting it out in the alley amongst a bunch of yard scraps and wishing it well, literally never touching it again.
Well now it's doing just fine, thankyouverymuch. Not a monster, which is fine with me, but filling up an empty spot and in no danger of threatening anything back in garden-land. Hopefully it will eventually get some height, but in the meantime? I'm impressed at it's sturdiness.
Rock on, acanthus. Rock on.
